Dr. Debra Ringold

Debra previously served as professor, dean, and renowned award-winning educator at Willamette University.

Dr. Debra J. Ringold serves as a Research Professor of Marketing at the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management, and brings her extensive expertise to The Standard School of Machine Learning as a distinguished academic contributor.

Before joining the Drucker School faculty, Dr. Ringold held the prestigious position of JELD-WEN Professor of Free Enterprise and served as Dean of the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University. Her colleagues recognized her exceptional leadership by honoring her as Administrator of the Year, and she was also named Exemplary Teacher of the Year for her outstanding contributions to teaching excellence across United Methodist institutions in the United States.

Dr. Ringold’s research centers on marketing regulation by major federal agencies, including the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Her scholarly work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, and the Journal of Advertising. She is also a recipient of the Thomas C. Kinnear/Journal of Public Policy & Marketing Award for outstanding research.

As Associate Editor of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Dr. Ringold played an instrumental role in shaping editorial standards. She continues to contribute to the field through service on the editorial boards of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Advertising, and Journal of Consumer Affairs. Her long-standing leadership with the American Marketing Association (AMA) includes serving on the board of directors and concluding her service as Chairperson of the Board.

Dr. Ringold has consulted for a wide range of corporate and public organizations, including Anheuser-Busch, State Farm Insurance, Hewlett-Packard, the FTC, the FDA, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Her expertise also led to an appointment to the U.S. Census Advisory Committee, where she advised on enhancing public participation, improving data collection, and strengthening communication strategies.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology and Chemistry from Texas Tech University, an MBA in Marketing and Management from Southern Illinois University, and a PhD in Marketing and Statistics from the University of Maryland.
