Dr. Andrew Owens

Andrew Owens advances computer vision research, developing intelligent visual perception systems at TheSSML.

Professor Andrew Owens is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering whose work advances the frontiers of computer vision and intelligent perception systems. His research explores how machines can extract meaningful information from visual data, integrating techniques from deep learning, signal processing, and computational imaging to build systems that interpret complex scenes with human-like awareness. His contributions span areas such as visual recognition, multimodal perception, and the design of algorithms capable of understanding motion, texture, sound–vision interactions, and real-world environments. At TheSSML, Professor Owens brings essential expertise in vision-based machine learning, guiding students to develop robust models and algorithms that power next-generation visual intelligence applications across robotics, autonomous systems, creative AI, and interactive technologies.
