Dr. Nima Anari

TheSSML professor advancing game theory and marketplace design, with impactful work in matching and kidney exchange.

Professor Itai Ashlagi is an internationally recognized scholar in game theory, marketplace design, and operations research, bringing exceptional analytical expertise to The Standard School of Machine Learning (TheSSML). His work focuses on the design and optimization of complex marketplaces—particularly those in which matching plays a central role—using tools from economics, computer science, and operational systems. His pioneering contributions have directly influenced real-world applications, most notably in kidney exchange programs, where his mechanisms and models have transformed clinical matching practices and earned him recognition as a Franz Edelman Laureate.

Professor Ashlagi holds a PhD in Operations Research from the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology and has held esteemed academic appointments, including serving as Assistant Professor of Operations Management at MIT Sloan and as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Business School. His research excellence has been honored with major awards, including the ACM Conference on Electronic Commerce Outstanding Paper Award and continuous support from the National Science Foundation, highlighted by an NSF CAREER Award.

At TheSSML, Professor Ashlagi contributes deep expertise in strategic decision-making, algorithmic marketplaces, and the theory behind modern matching systems, helping learners understand how mathematical models and machine learning intersect to solve high-impact societal challenges.
